Cream
Campus life, with more reasons to say hello.
01 / The story
Why this project exists
Cream is a community app i am building around life beyond class, starting with the SMU community. It brings together clubs, shared interests, plans, opportunities and optional dating, with a playful identity and a personal space that feels like your own.
The idea is to make it easier to turn a shared interest into an actual connection: find a CCA, arrange a study session, join someone for an activity or discover a project opportunity. i wanted the experience to feel welcoming and social, with practical tools behind the playful surface.
02 / The experience
What you can explore
Discover campus communities
Browse and filter a directory of 151 SMU Vivace 2026 listings, with original illustrations and links to the official sources. App spaces and official club membership remain separate.
Make a plan together
Find buddies for activities and compare shared availability, with participants choosing what they share.
Connect around opportunities
Explore workflows for study groups, projects, workshops and jobs, including employer review and student-controlled applications.
Meet people on your terms
Separate opt-in dating preferences, mutual-match conversations and block, report and unmatch controls support the social side of the product.
Make the space your own
Customise a profile and avatar, build a wardrobe and explore cosmetic items and rewards through the shop.
Playful on the surface, thoughtful underneath
The warm visual identity is paired with consent, private account data and moderation. Cream is an independent project built for the campus community; it is not an official SMU service.
03 / My part
From idea to execution
i am creating the product concept, brand and user experience, and building the application with AI development tools. The work ranges from its bubbly wordmark and campus navigation to profiles, community features, matching flows, moderation and avatar customisation.
- Product & community design
- Organising campus discovery, activity plans and opportunities around clear reasons to connect, with dating available as a separate opt-in experience.
- Brand & interaction
- Creating the Cream identity: rounded typography, butter-cream and navy colours, original illustrations and customisable avatars.
- Development & testing
- Building account-based features, refining onboarding and profile flows, and testing connections, chat, blocking and reporting before wider adoption.

05 / Progress
Where the project is now
A working early-access build
The app is online and being refined through account, onboarding and social-flow testing.
A sourced campus directory
151 Vivace 2026 listings give the discovery experience a real starting point. Illustrations are original, rather than official club logos.
Building towards wider use
Live verification and payments depend on their production setup. Test identities and demo profiles are kept distinct from real members.
